It's certainly valuable and worth a buy, especially if it's for pocket change, but be aware that Shakespeare this book is not. If you're looking for something visually and thematically thoughtful, look elsewhere (it ain't here!) If you want some bizarre and shocking imagery and ideas to kickstart your creativity, this book will do that.
He's good and he does good, and that's all he does that's Dorian Hawkmoon in a nut shell. He doesn't have any flaws, he doesn't have any stakes, and he doesn't have any lessons to learn of any palpable and hard-earned relevance to his story. The main character isn't really a person because he doesn't have a personalized "want", so, he doesn't have a clearly defined motivation to do anything beyond simply being heroic.
The hero is heroic, the villains are villainous and the girlfriend "girlfriends", and that's it. The good parts: every page drips with inspiration, boasting some of the most thoughtful and surreal imagery I've seen outside of Alan Moore's 'Swamp Thing' or Neil Gaiman's 'Sandman', both of whom worship Moorcock's creative genius-but! (and there is a "but") the character writing is strictly two-dimensional.
